Sam’s life is falling apart; her boss is unhappy from her work, her husband is depressed and currently jobless, her teenage daughter barely talks to her. She knows that she is failing her job until one day during an accidental mix-up at the gym, she ends up with a pair of brilliant red heels instead of her weary dull black pumps.
What she doesn’t understand is how just a simple pair of new shoes has given her so much confidence and she is now rocking the same job she thought she had almost lost earlier.
Nisha cantor has lived a life of luxury and relaxation but now her husband has suddenly divorced her, shut down their joint bank account and turned her out. A few hours earlier, she had all the blessings in the world. Now she doesn’t even have her red heels and instead is stuck with old pumps due to some accident at the gym.
She desperately tries to hold on to her previous lavish life while trying to live on her own for the very first time.
Can fate be changed like the simple switch of a pair of shoes?
The story is full of ups and downs and unlike many other lit fics, keeps you glued. I had heard that Jojo Moyes’s books are always a pleasure but now that I’ve read one, I can safely say that not only are they a pleasure but absolutely brilliant!
The story was so interesting and heartwarming as we see the course of life of the two women completely change when they wear someone else’s shoes. It was worth reading. At times, the story seemed slow but overall, it was actually very beautifully written.
Now that I’ve read it, I’m looking forward to reading Moyes other books, especially Me Before You. Will probably read it after I finish my current read. (The Only One Left by Riley Sager)
“Strength is turning up every day to a situation that is intolerable, unbearable even, just to support the people you love. Strength is being in that terrible room hour after hour even though every cell in your body is telling you it’s too much for you to cope with.”
― Jojo Moyes, Someone Else's Shoes
