In a peaceful retirement village, 4 friends meet every Thursday to discuss the unsolved murders over the years. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron all have enjoyed their lives. Now when all the retired people are occupying their days with piano lessons, book clubs and mastering board games, the four friends find solace and amusement in solving the mysterious police cases. However, their lives take a much more interesting turn when a real-life murder happens at their village.
P.C Donna has made some undesirable changes
in her life which she sometimes regrets. When Elizabeth offers her, her dream
job in return for letting the Thursday Murder Club help in solving the case.
Donna is again forced to make some changes which she might regret.
The story seems so simple and interesting.
However, the way its written makes it feel like a drag. Adam Kay says that it’s
“funny, clever and achingly British”. In my humble opinion, it is a way too
British. So many characters are introduced in the first few chapters and the
story diverts from the point so many times, it turns boring. I wasn’t
interested in reading Ian Ventham’s POV in such detail. So all in all, I think
the mystery was pretty good. The ending made sense. It was a perfect
ending to the murders. But I don’t like
the writing style much. Needless to say, I won’t be reading the next book.
But you can get the book here:
