Love & Luck

At least Addie has her summer sorted out; attend her aunt's wedding in Ireland and then fly away to Italy to see her best friend Lina and bask in the Italian sunshine and enjoy a gelato so that she may forget what horrible nightmares await her back at home.

She thinks that telling her problems to Lina might solve some of them, like how heart broken she is or how she has ruined her relation with her favorite brother Ian etc etc.

However life never goes as we plan and when Addie finds out that Ian is visiting some musical festival in Ireland instead of accompanying her to Italy, she tries to desperately stop him but ends up missing her own flight.

Having no other choice, Addie joins her brother and his Irish friend Rowan on a road trip through Ireland to see the musical festival and possibly to mend her broken heart.

Jenna Evans Welch writes heartwarming stories and this one is just perfect. I liked this book better in this regard that we actually get to see some of Ireland through Addie's eyes.

Cliffs of Moher, Burren, Cobh and all these places just reflect on your inner eye. Honestly I ended up adding a road trip through Ireland on my bucket list.

     THE CLIFFS OF MOHER

       ROCK OF CASHEL

The first book took place mainly in Florence so we didn't get the chance to visualize Italy in the same way. Though we do get a trenchant description of Florence.

Moreover, the writer knows what YA problems are; she knows her audience.

College admission, stupid heartbreak stuff, your favorite musical band and how to face your classmates after they all know about your scandalous rendezvous.

Yup, she knows.

The ending is perfect and definitely makes sure that we read love and olives before we move on from this perfect YA trilogy.

Here are some of the notable quotes of the book. Happy Reading!!

"But the label thing is just part of being human, right? We like to categorize people, so everyone gets labels slapped on them whether they're right or not." I'd never thought about it that way before, but it was true. We even label ourselves; Bad at math. Flirt. Clueless."

"How was it possible to feel so horrible in a place that was so beautiful?"

"The cliffs are gorgeous. Breath-stealing, really. But not in the soft endearing way of a sunset or a wobbly new lamb. They're gorgeous like a storm is gorgeous —one of those raw, tempestuous ones that leave you feeling awed and scared at the same time. Ever been trapped in a car during a particularly brutal thunderstorm? The cliffs are that kind of beautiful. Think drama, rage, and peace all packed up into one stunning package."

"Heartache came in all sorts of flavors."
