Book review: Better than the movies

Liz Buxbaum is looking for her happily ever after. She has spent her life in the footsteps of her late mother. She wears sundresses, listens to music almost 24/7 and is obsessed with rom-coms that her mother has left her. But just like every other rom-com heroine, Liz also has a few thorny bushes in her perfect rose garden. One of them is her neighbour, Wes Bennet.

Bennet has been her enemy since they were children and the one and only, sole purpose of Bennett's life is to annoy Liz Buxbaum and make her life more miserable.

When Michael Young, Liz's lifelong crush crash lands back into her life, Liz is sure that fate is handing her the happily ever after she has always wanted. But despite her desperate attempts, she fails to attain his attention.

So when all else fails, Liz does what she has never expected to do. She asks Wes Bennet to help ber get the boy of her dreams. But the question is, is Michael Young really the boy of her dreams?

Readers I think you already know what is going to happen in the book. Spoiler alert: it is full of cliches and classic rom com moves. Yet the way in which it is written makes the overall setting pretty hilarious and at times pretty swoon worthy.

If you love it , then rejoice since the sequel, " Nothing like the movies" is set to release in 2024.

Well, better late than never.
