The Frost Approach

The summary of this Robert Frost masterpiece is our poet is having a horrendous day. Nothing goes right and he feels sick of existence. But when he goes on a walk, he sees a crow.

That's right. He saw a big ugly, black crow. The crow dusts snow flakes from his black feathers down to our poet. And that somehow instantly lifts his mood. Well maybe I exaggerated a bit but that's how poems work. I define what I understand.

That's how things work sometimes for me too. I was having a really bad day till in the evening I saw that the trees in the east have grown red flowers. I felt very nice. Although they grow red flowers every spring and i see them every spring. Yet it felt so good. A few days ago I was really grumpy but then I saw a cloud. Just a single cloud roaming aimlessly in the blue sky. It was just a small patch of lofty white cloud and it made me forget about how bad my day was.

And sometimes, a bad day can easily be cured by watching an animated lighthearted Disney or Ghibli movie.

I call this " The Frost Approach".

Whenever you're having a bad time, experiencing something firsthand or even witnessing something quite common can seem delightful and enticing. It happens for me. Sometime a lonely bird sitting in a tree does the trick for me. Other times its watching a squirrel eat something. Sometimes its the sound of tap running. Other times its the silent tick tock of the clock. And I have found pleasure in the cold chill that strikes your face when you open the freezer or the sweet aroma of tea brewing or the fact that the universe is so large and we may not be alone or maybe we'll shift on Mars on day.

One way or another. It works. There must be something simple that will help you cheer up.
