Book review: The Family Game

 

Harriet Reed is going to marry Edward Holbeck, the first born of the rich, eccentric Holbeck family. She plans to have a perfect future for herself where she no longer has to worry about the dark secrets buried in her past. 

That is until Robert Holbeck, her father in law steps in. 

The Holbeck family has Harriet confused and worried as she has no previous experience with dramatic and mysterious millionaires yet it is Robert Holbeck who manages to get Harriet on her toes. 

In there first meeting, Robert gives her a tape. With a secret, gruesome tale. A confession of all his appalling acts. And asks her for a favour.. Harriet has no choice but to agree as Robert knows her secret. He knows the things she's hiding.

The Family Game has a plot twist you will never see coming. This twisted tale of the elite family is such a time killer. I read the whole book in two days. 

It seemed quite mediocre until the second half where things really pick pace. This book is so perfect for a wintery mystery read.
