Troubled Casey Fletcher is sent to the family house at Lake Greene so that she may get over from both, her drinking problem and her late husband who passed away last year.
Yet when she finds it difficult to abandon any of the two activities, she takes on to spying on her neighbours with her husband's binoculars. The model Katherine Royce and her husband Tom Royce have just started living in their lake house just opposite to Fletchers. The friendship between Casey and Katherine blooms when Casey saves the latter in a drowning incident. Yet things take a sinister turn when Casey suspects that Tom is trying to kill her beloved wife just for the sake of money. With the help of her neighbour Boon, Casey embarks to find the truth before it's too late. But ultimately Casey finds herself stuck in a locked room mystery with nothing but her unbearable past and unreliable people.
The book's beginning seems cozy and perfect but soon enough it turns out to be a crazy page Turner because Riley Stagger is a master of suspense and thrill. The climax won't let your eyes wander anywhere else.
